Annoyed At Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga is coming to San Francisco this week and I just finished reading an interview in The Guardian with her and Kimberly Chun. Here is the direct quote that irritated me:
"... she was eager to be understood by serious music fans who might dismiss her as a throwaway popster. "The level of commitment and dedication it takes to put on a perfect pop show is very difficult," she exclaimed. "And I think some of the underground snobbery is fear and not understanding that discipline."
You are wrong Ms Gaga, I get it. I get that, 'the level of commitment and dedication' is INSANE. It is also boring. My 'underground snobbery' comes from understanding far too well how obsessed you are with your image and how driven you are at putting on a 'perfect' performance. Beauty lies in the imperfections. Like the time when you tripped on stage in Montreal. That was rad.
Anyway, your quirky antics entertain me. I have been known to defend you in Hipster and Fashionista circles alike, but I feel you are losing touch with reality. Reality being whatever you consider 'underground'.
